Here is some information on Scoliosis, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoliosis. Any one can get Scoliosis, even you can get it, and even some of your friends get it. Scoliosis is a serious thing in the U.S and Scoliosis can threaten your life and health.And the only cure is surgery. And when you get out of surgery, there will be some things you will not be able to do. Just keep that in mind.

Be careful... Surgery isn't always necessary. Scoliosis is still being researched. Different types of scoliosis have been found and different causes noticed. There are things that can help cases that aren't as severe. There are exercises that can be done. Yes, it is a scary thing to have oneself, but it is handleable. Surgery becomes necessary when curves are at certain levels, like yours & mine. And you won't be as restricted as you think... Trust me... it will work out. It's ok!

What exactly is the cause?
From what I got from the link was it was at birth it happens.
So is it a disease which one can catch or disorder or defect which is inherent?
How I am assuming that it is the latter.

I don't get mine from brith. I was diagnosed with scoliosis in 2002. And no it doesn't always happen at brith, it happen at brith and it can happen when you are child or an adult.
