Any ideas?
I have a new forum up, but the majority of our users don't bother to post. I know you people will and I was wondering how to make a site popular without spending money?

First thing you can do is goto Google and search for "Anime Directories"  Find a few *FREE* ones and add your site to them.  Be prepared for some wait time, and you mine as well, think up of a creative description that encompasses everything about your site.  Note that this will also probably attract BOTS and SPAMMERS.

Having a "successful" forum takes time...longevity.  Simply be patient.  Good posters come from word of mouth.

Probably the most importatnt peice of advice I can give you is to post *something, anything* every day.  Build up your content.  Check out other sites that have similar interests, and see what you can add to your site to make it stand out...something that makes your site unique enough that people will prefer to come to your site.  Otherwise, your site is "just another anime site".  

If you have access to the META data on your forum, you may also want to add KEYWORDS like:  "anime, journal, Tenchi, Ayeka, Sasami, "... and a DESCRIPTION:  "Welcome to the imaginary world of ...blah...where you can ....blah and blah....!"  These are the things that GOOGLE and other search engines pick up on, and allow internet searchers find your site.

No matter. They're easy to pick out. I was also thinking about features to the site. I'll have to check with Mei on the META thing. He's pretty skilled on that stuff.
