I'm looking into the possiblity of cleaning up the website.  I need to know (based on what you think, not what I think) which things we can do with out.  I am doing this to streamline everybody's experiance here and make it as user friendly as possible.  Another reason is becuase 1.1 RC3 has recently come out, and I need to upgrade the board.  Since some of the MODS that I have on here aren't compatible (yet), those will probably be removed when I upgrade the site.

Currently installed Modifications:

• Member Map
• Chat
• Calendar
• Blogs
• Battle Mod (you know, that drop down at the bottom of the Post box)
• Shop
• Karma Rank
• Days until Promotion
• Remaining Downloads
• Arcade
• Ignore Boards
• Gender Restriction
• Age Restriction
• as well as a few other internal functions

Some of the Mods I'm thinking of getting rid of are:

• Chat
• Shop
• Remaining Downloads -- Possibly to redo the code if not elimiate it.
• Arcade
• Blog -- Possibly to upgrade the site blogs to using a real blogging software.
• Gender Restriction
• Age Restriction

Some boards I'm looking to purge due to non-usage.

• Anime Vault -- Ranma 1/2
• Anime Vault -- Slayers
• Ryoko's Lounge -- Ryo-ohki's Memories  & (all child boards)
• Keiichi's Dictionary (possibly redesignate this board as a Japanese learning board instead of a word list.  This board would have basic sentences that members who wish to learn Japanese can learn vocabulary and grammar.)
• Guy Talk
• Girl Talk
• Detention Hall
• Washu's Lab
• Skuld's Code Vault
• Character Diaries & (all child boards)
• Research Lab & (all child boards)

I'm also going to be purging the member list for members that haven't been online in over 180 days, or who have never posted anything.

Some Mods I'll probably add to the site:

• Post Moderation / Visual Warning Mod -- This is going to take the place of Detention Hall
• Hide Post -- This is going to take the place of the Gender & Age Restriction (assuming I can make it work)
• Customized Board Sort -- New, and replaces some hard coding for Character Sheet boards...

Some things I'm thinking of redesigning / Changing all together:

• I've read that message board only sites don't fair too well, and a main site is requried to attract people to the site.  The message board is simply an add-on.  Thus, I'll probably change the whole downloading logic to work from a main site and I'll try to make it more user friendly.  I'll also be thinking up of ways to prevent people from just downloading (and stealing our bandwidth) files without repaying us for the service(s) that we provide.
• I'll be making an official banner for the site.
• There will probably be a shift from just general anime (and us just hanging out), to Anime and Role Playing.  This will be stated on the main page, and probably the banner as well.  I'm shifting our focus, becuase I feel that this is a community of not only Anime lovers, but also people that love to Role Play as well.  (Well, those of use that are active in the community, anyway....)

There will probably be some other things, I don't know of everything I want to do yet, but I would certainly like to include all of you in these decisions, since this is your hang out as well.

Please let me know if I've overlooked anything, and I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this matter.

Of the Current Mods installed, I think we should get rid of
Member Map; Chat; Shop; Days Until Promotions, Karma Rank, Remaining Downloads

... I'm being nice and saying you could keep the battle mod as i know everyone uses that (execpt me)

Now the Arcade, i've used that like once and really don't see a point to it, but thats just me...

The Ignore Boards, must be KEPT! I like having the option to ignore forum boards as I have like 76% of the forum on ignore listing.. heh.

The blog system, I could really care less about, it's there and is kinda nice to get to know some of the forum members better but it's not a essential system that I really need.

The Age Restriction is something that I don't think really matters as some people I know here use to lie about their age inorder to be able to see some things that were once hidden.

The gender restriction is only really useful for that one forum board. For a while, the Guy Talk has just shut down and I think the female board never really took off. So it was a kewl idea in theory but there isn't enough active base inorder to make full use.


Now on the matter of keeping forum boards.
I have it set to have these boards ignored, so if you get rid of these, I really wouldn't care too much.

I would have to say that this website forum is just like this other Tenchi Website I use to go to. The URL is Http://www.tenchizone.com

It's kinda a similar layout to what we have here, but they already have a main site to bring people but as you can see. It doesn't always work out the way you want. If we had a IRC channel or something that had a open feed of anime downloads. Then i think that could bring in alot of more people.

It's really easy, I use to do it all the time on IRC, basically. We could infiltrate a chat channel and set up a Fserver where people can download files regularly and then after each file they could be sent a message to check out the website for other applications and what not. But... it just eats up your bandwith to have a Fserver constantly running as well as it slows down your system.. but that way it spreads the files and we can mooch from others as well they can mooch from us. Thats how i filled up a 200gig hdd in like 2 weeks.

After I get the initial code written up for the main site, I'll probably "employ" some of you folks that are better suited for graphical design (since I'll admit, I'm horrible at it   )

Wow , screw up again IWWBLT... You don't seem to pay attention to any detail of the words that are said. I think you might need to increase the perscription strength of your glasses.

Now did I say any where on there that he should get rid of any of those forums?? NO!! I just said that I have it set to ignore those boards. Now if those boards are removed from the forum, it would not bother me at all. If they stay, then thats fine as well as I have it set to IGNORE those mentioned boards.
