Current Job: Software support technician.  (I hate it).
Like about the current job: Sometimes there is free time to 'goof off'. (meaning that I can actaully write programs for the company I work for)
Dream Job: Software Engineer (the guys that acutally think up of the solutions for a client and then write the algorithims (sp??) to solve thier needs.)
Why I would like this job: I would get to solve unique challenges and problems (not the same old crap by b****y end-users everyday)

Current Job: Electronic Sales Associate at Staples Office Supply Store
Like about the current job: I get to help people out with their technical/electronic needs.
Don't like about current job: Long Story Short - Bad Management
Dream Job: Software/Hardware Engineer
Why I would like this job: Because I would love to design software to help do the needs of clients, and to create programs for software companies such as video games as well as create hardware packages that can give users exactly what they want for the price range they need it at.

I know I stole your format Kusha, but it looked so good that I had to copy it.

I study over at RBC, currently JAVA programming.. Which is junk... cus the teacher also teaches music Appreciation... and he keeps trying to scare us to drop the class...out of 16 people in the beginning, 8 has already left.

Man, that sucks!  I'll give you some pointers though.  On my first project, I got a 98%, and I scored like a 99% on the written test.  Tomorrow, I've got Project 2 due, along with another test. *grumbles*   :figures:
Title: Re: What do you all do?
Post by: Shidasko on 13-Oct-2005 (Thu) @ 10:34:19
On the first test, the grade range was from 28%-84%
the 4 highest grades in the class were students who took the class the previous semster and failed the class. So their forcibly taking it again to improve their grade. While i'm taking this for the first time, so out of the other 4 people who aren't taking the class a second time. I got the highest grade of 67 some...

Title: Re: What do you all do?
Post by: Shidasko on 14-Oct-2005 (Fri) @ 22:11:03
first it was the basics of fundamentals. before you can do a program or do a project, you have to understand the means you are doing it.
Well, we are now starting the java learning path, but we jsut started learning doubles or shoudl already comprend doubles.. i have no idea what a double is... >.<

Current Job: Software Architect / Systems Engineering.
Like about the current job: I get to design from the ground up full featured products like a homeautomation system, a mini GIS system, a cable design tool, etc. And have a small team that I get to run to work on my project (granted I still get to do a majority of the programming as well)
Dream Job: What I'm doing for the most part.
Title: Re: What do you all do?
Post by: zahadoom on 15-Oct-2005 (Sat) @ 01:37:43
a double is a numerical storage type that usually has 15+ (depends on the language) places of precision. While a single (or float as it's called in java, C, and C#) has 7 places of precision. But a double takes twice as much memory to hold as the single, and can take twice as much processing time to do an equivilent operation (+-/*) on it.

And also student teacher (still no pay  :( )

Plan to be a Music teacher in the future...im really good with instrumental music...ive been taking music classes for 9 years and i enjoy it. The college hates me because they cant let me skip a clss i took in high school. The student teaching thing happened by chance. I only in my first semester of college, so i shouldnt be anywhere near ready to start my student teaching, but i doing it anyways...

hey CSI is an awesome show (at least the vegas ones are, the miami ones are getting better, ny is ok and ncis(?sp) is...um interesting) forensics is an awesome job if you can handle dealing with all the body smells and dead things. personally, id not have to deal with that stuff (yuck) but i wouldnt mind doing the test experiments to run senarios.

Title: Re: What do you all do?
Post by: Shidasko on 01-Dec-2005 (Thu) @ 19:40:00
not really.. it's not really suspenseful.. cus all the action has already happened.... their just trying to figure out how it was done... now the episode where a CSI member was held hostage underground in a garden field with deadly ants eating the flesh off his arm while he was being broadcasted via interweb through a webcam....
Now that was suspenseful....

i'd have to agree with you that that was the best episode(s) (i think it was 2 or 3 long?) But the whole series does seem to have some strange drawing effect on people. It's easy to get hooked.

this is a bit way off of topic but you should have waited and picked up the Canon A700, if you wanted to stay within the canon family. Image Stablization (Optical of course), and 6x Optical Zoom Range. Nice pick me up from the A620

I was slightly tired when I had stated that statement. But I had ment that this thread is more geared to what people are doing job wise currently versus what people are doing like in the current moment of their life like "eating a bowl of cereal" or "watching tv" it's more designed to be responded by statements answered like "going to college to become an art major" or something more tangible and life-long.

not really much of a congratulations. As I watch my old department go down the drain as it is not being kept up with merch standards. It's getting quite interesting as it's right now under unadvised management. That supervisor has no idea about anything involving the three new departments she has just gained access to. So when she works there, she's pretty much a Nub. It's funny!

it was quite funny on sunday, the Home Theater department had over 5 TV packages returned.. 2 of those tvs were the exact same one by two different customers... which was of value about 13k.

2day there was a TV return was bought by a dude, the tv was a Westinghouse tv, which is mid range tv. Anyways, the TV owner had a comcast guy set up the TV hook up because the guy thought it would be simple enough and the comcast guy said it was free. Well, the comcast guy told him the tv wasn't that great and so the guy trusted the comcast guy and returned the tv and went ot Circuit City..... All because his cable guy told him so...

Title: Re: What do you all do?
Post by: Shidasko on 13-Sep-2006 (Wed) @ 11:54:19
You konw whats really retarded, the person who makes the prices on our computer packages... A Emachine desktop can run from like 300-600 dollars, but lets go with one model and say the price is like 374.99 for the tower alone. BUT! if you get the CRT monitor and a Canon Printer go with it, the package price would be about 299.99

How much sense does that make?
Also, thats how we beat Circuit City,
A) Customer Service
 - I hear at least from 3 different customers everyday about how no one would help them out over at Circuit City. Like there's  no CC employee in that department or one will walk by you and just not even say a word. Not even a excuse me as they zip past you... It's like their understaffed, while over my place. We're sometimes understaffed, but then we pool together and make sure that everyone's Contacted and received some degree of help that they want. Hell, when I'm swamped, i'm bouncing like 3 sets of customers. Usually, I'll tell them to please be patient and then they will say, "Just 1 question and thats it." which usually turns into 20 questions.. Then i'll get a call on the phone which has a old lady on it, wanting me to compare two desktops of how they are different. when I'm currently swamped, so I tell her we're really busy and she has to come in and we can help her... Then things get out of hand and the whole world explodes... Lol

B) Instant Rebates, Not MIRs which take 8-12 weeks if you are even able to get redeemed.
 - These instant Rebates are like Minimum on a Tower desktop (package ones) is from anywhere 40 dollars off - 300 dollars off
 - On Laptops, the smalllest instant rebate that I've seen is like 150 dollars off, while the highest i've seen islike 380 dollars off.. Which is crazy, and btw did i tell you thats cheaper than employee cost!!
 - On average, we lost 74 dollars on every desktop and laptop sold, but as you can see it fluctuates..

C) We're not afraid to take all of your money! {Just a harmless joke}
