Hi,
Here is a question for you. Do think people could accept superhero or not?
My personal thought is not very likely.
Society is known for never being happy even if did have superhero saving the day.
If superheroes were at all real then there would be a issue with 'sidekicks' that would also be known as 'child labour'!
I would disagree. It would be called volutneer service as sidekick.
What about property damage caused by thier super fights.
We need heroes, I have to agree with Spiderman's Aunt May. But you can't make everyone happy.
Have you seen "The Incredible"?
Sure have. :)
They needed hero ,but they reject them because of dumb reasons.
You do not think after a bit of time that we would do the same.
I would hope not. It might depend on the hero... But, like I said, you can't please everyone. Some would be jealous of the attention. Some too materialistic to see the good being done. But, most of us need to have something good to look to.
I hope.
Does this includes villians?
No supervillian.
It would be if a portal open a justice league or X-men pop outed.
Is how wanted to start this discuss.
But if you want to include supervillian, ok.
There has to be a balance... Even if one "Superhero" popped out there would be a villian soon. Someone would fill the void. Besides, isn't there enough in this world for a Hero to work with? There is always someone hurting someone else, always an underdog who needs a hand up.
You know, each of us holds the potential to be a hero for someone. A superhero would be nice, sure. Give the rest of us someone to aspire to. Me.... At the moment, my daughter thinks I'm a superhero. That's gonna change in a couple years, I know. I know a few people who come close to being heroes. But even in the Movies, Comics, Books.... Heroes are very Human.
In the grand scheme of things I think superheroes are needed even if in our dreams...it is what gives us hope for the future. However, theat being said I tend to agree that it is unfortunate that in today's society they would get treated like in the incredibles.
When you try to please all you will soon please none.
People will want superheros and then they will be people who do not want superhero and will try to stop/get rid of.
Amen to that Vir!
Okay, well consider this for a moment:
Alright, we now have superheros in the World. More precisely, just one. Say that superhero ends up in ............ oh, I don't know....North Korea? It's a matter of assumption that superheros are morally good willed, honest, trustworthy, always does the right thing.....now let's take a look at this senario (sp?) through an outsiders eyes. To the hero, N.Korea looks like it's being opressed by the other nations of the world. The hero could see this as a threat, and fight for these opressed people. Now what do we do? We've got a superhero using thier powers for what they think is right, good, and just based on what they see first hand. I won't even go into what would follow next. The world as we know it would be changed forever. We as a race certianly wouldn't be able to stand up against this hero, and only until it's too late will he/she fully realize what has occured.

And what would you call it then if say robin got caught and was molested by a villian ie: joker, slade etc. How do you think society would feel if they found out they were sending teens after pyschopaths? Who would face liablity, how would the whole superhero code be affected. And in terms of the DC universe if batman found out robin endured such a thing and was made public, if he was to be prosecuted then the justice leauge would collpase as well.
In fact in refrence to sensu's question, would we allow heroes free autonamily? After all they failed to stop 9/11 (Yes i know were talking about fictional characters but at the same time DC comics stamp their characters saying stuff like: things change since 9/11 or it could be worse then 9/11 etc.)
End of day it's not that we don't want superheroes but at the same time they won't become the heroes will be familir with because the world cannot see why and nor would it accept an independent bunch of crime fighting heroes. They would be intergrated to the militry forces (their own goverment or UN) soon. No one would tolerate a giant watchtower hanging above in space, their loyalty to the country they grew up on will be questioned as well as what they will do with their powers. More then anything superheroes would face more of the X-men special comics 'civil war' involving a crossover with marvel's finest (summary of that story is an incident occurs between two people with powers that caused immense destruction, because of it, a national registration and even identification is compulsary)
Hell even spider-man was forced to take of his mask.

One question about a different in what is justice or SuperHero fight for one side who will still do the good goody boyscout thing like most comic book superheros?
Very well put slade...the reality of our current world is that we are not ready for a superhero. Sure we love the idea, but in actual working practice they would be rejected and governments would begin to target them as the enemy!
X-men, is not to far.
However, I doubt any comic will have Superheros in strict real world situtation.
they couldn't...the comic would be over to fast!
We are own worst enemy. :(
Ain't that the truth Dreamseeker!
