"I'm going to do my best!", is often used in many anime, because it's a basic Japanese philosophy.  And I got to thinking, many of the characters in MGLN are younger.  Recently as I've begun deconstructing the world I live in, and the realm of Capitalism, "I'm going to do my best" is highly praised.  Of course it is, you're going way above and beyond what you're being compensated for (which, if truth be told, is often the bare minimum that employers want to pay).  You're voluntarily giving extra effort and energy to a task for free.  Maybe I'm disgruntled, and tired of being exploited.  Anyway, I digress.

The point of this post is what if anime characters didn't observe this mindset?  I specifically chose MGLN because I believe I know Fate fairly well.  She's as determined as I am, perhaps more-so than me.  What if she just said, ya know, I'm only going to do the minimum, because that's how I'm compensated?

Well, for one, we'd have a really, really boring show to watch.  I mean, that's like watching paint dry.  All the bad guys would be able to get away with whatever horrible atrocities that they are doing.  Justice would fail.  Innocent people would be hurt or worse.  This is probably one reason why I like anime as a form of entertainment.  There are morals, ethics, and values built into the story.  And yes, there is exaggeration too.  Usually humorously applied.

But I do need to point out that Fate would never say such words.  True, she was brutally abused by her mother, but she does have a very compassionate heart, a kind mind, and because of all the adversity she's experienced, I believe this gave her the level of determination that she now possesses.  And I'm glad that she is so determined to give a damn about others.  And let's not forget that she is compensated fairly well.  I don't know how the citizens within the Time and Space Administration Bureau are compensated, however, I do know that Fate is showered with love, kindness and respect, among other things.

Maybe I just needed to ramble and vent, because I'm at a loss as to where the real people in the world are, people like Fate, whom she was modeled after.  I mean, surely somebody has her characteristics, right?  One?  Maybe I'm starting to feel hopeless.  And I'm running toward escapism because I'm starting to see the cruelty the world has to offer, and I'm not seeing the other side, the side with love, fairness, compassion.  I'm sure it exists, but I'm just not seeing it out of anybody who has the power to do anything about this mess we call life.

I'm glad you made it this far in reading my blabbering rant.  Now I need to think up of a title for this swamp...

And just for the record, I don't believe Fate has ever said the phrase "I'm going to do my best."  So I don't even know why I began this post with it.  I'm so confused!  :'(
