Negima! Magister Negi Magi / Student Housing
Last post by Senkusha - 04-May-2025 (Sun) @ 18:23:34
I was under the impression that all the students attending Mahora academy were assigned dorm rooms?

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Although we know that Evangeline A.K. McDowell and Chachamaru Karakuri live in a private home on the other side of campus away from the other girls.  However, I can see this having been arranged specifically by the dean because

Mihoshi's Galactic Evidence Report / RPG Ratings and such...
Last post by Senkusha - 02-May-2025 (Fri) @ 21:04:28
This week, I added a new RPG Ratings guideline, that applies site wide.  Unless you specifically request a higher (or lower) rating for your (private) game, please follow the site wide established ratings.

In preparation to list our beloved site on other directories, I made a WebRinger module that will randomly showcase one of the sites that we're also on friendly terms with.  Every site in the WebRing is available via clicking on the links underneath the site image banner.  Please check out our friends as you have time!

I know it doesn't seem like much, but I've done a lot of behind the screens work!  Enjoy, and Have FUN!

Kagome's General Gossip and Discussion / RPG Rating System
Last post by Senkusha - 02-May-2025 (Fri) @ 14:31:20
I just discovered this rating system, and I think it's pretty neat.  I went though the little quiz and determined that I'd prefer this site here to be a 2/1/2, for the most part.  There might be room for exceptions, but I would limit that to be contained in a private role play room.

QuoteLanguage: 2 - Swearing is permitted, with some limitations.
Sex:  1 -  Mild sexual innuendo and references permitted.
Violence: 2 - Violence is permitted, with some limitations.

Do you feel this would be appropriate?  Is it too restrictive?

Kagome's General Gossip and Discussion / Dental Care
Last post by Senkusha - 01-May-2025 (Thu) @ 18:48:51
PSA:  Don't neglect your teeth!

After five years of putting off minor dental work, I've managed to stumble and fall into an abyss of dental problems.

I went to the dentist today because of a toothache, expecting an extraction (like every other time I've gone to the dentist)  She informed me after taking numerous x-rays that most of my teeth can be saved, with the exception of two, including the tooth giving me the problem -- That one, I need a crown.  But that's going to cost me over $950!  For the two root canals, four crowns and two or three extractions, and the other miscellanious cavity fillings, it'll cost me nearly $17,000, all but $1,000 out of pocket -- my dental insurance maximum for the year!

I'm looking into getting Aflac, hopefully I can afford those additional monthly payments!  Don't neglect your teeth!

Negima! Magister Negi Magi / Japanese Classroom Procedures
Last post by Senkusha - 30-Apr-2025 (Wed) @ 20:37:49
I was under the impression that in a Japanese classroom the Class President or Class Representative instructs the students to Rise, Bow, Sit, when a teacher enters the room.

However, in episode 3 of Negima, it's Nodoka who makes these announcements, yet I thought Ayaka was the Class Representative?  Did somebody mess up in the script?

Chobits / "Laptop" Persacoms
Last post by Senkusha - 30-Apr-2025 (Wed) @ 07:51:55
Although the full size "computers" are powerful, and indeed coveted by most people, I think the laptop version of Persacoms are absolutely adorable!  I love the different personalities that both Sumomo and Kotoko have installed.  But then again, I love the chibi style as well.

I wonder, I know that our elite billionaire overlords are working on something kinda like a real life version of Persacoms--to replace human labor, but I'm curious to know if anything like Sumomo would be created too?

Do you think it would be a distraction having something like these miniature Persacoms walking around?

Chobits / Is Chobits Sexist?
Last post by Senkusha - 30-Apr-2025 (Wed) @ 06:53:55
I'll have to watch the series again, but I don't recall seeing any Persacoms other than female.  There is an exception, I remember Yumi has a small persacom in the shape of a frog or something, but all the persacoms I remember seeing in the anime are female.  Maybe the manga has some male examples?  It's been forever since I've read the manga.

What are your thoughts on this?  Do you think Chobits could be sexist?

Chobits / Looking for a Song
Last post by Senkusha - 29-Apr-2025 (Tue) @ 21:34:31
At 14:02 minutes in episode 20, this scene, there's some background music that begins playing.  I want to find this filler music.  Does anybody know what the name of this song is?

Chobits / Perscoms as a Labor Force
Last post by Senkusha - 28-Apr-2025 (Mon) @ 07:56:53
The world of Chobits has us, Society, looking at what the world should look like with advanced AI and robotics (androids) living and working with people.  Keeping in mind that this story was only written around 2001, and we're now finally only beginning to realize this new world of automation, but there are some critical differences that should be examined.

First, in the series, Persacoms are doing labor, and they are not only working side by side regular old human beings, but also are being paid in the form of wages.  However, that's not what the plans are for the people currently in control of the world today.  They plan on replacing the human workers with android machines that can work for free.  So, unless some sort of Universal Income is established when this transfer of labor takes place, nobody will be able to purchase any of the products or services that these machines are being tasked with.  It's the end of the economy, and possibly even society itself.

Given the reality of the future as it's unfolding, I feel that Chobits seems naive or perhaps too optimistic for real life.  Maybe this is just the difference in culture between the Japanese people versus the American power-hoarders.  What do you think?
